When it comes to the powersports industry, every detail matters.

And paving the way to sustainable change calls for more than minute adjustments. It requires you to rethink everything you thought you knew. That’s why we are constantly reassessing how we design our accessories, or in this case, our plows.

We always keep the following top of mind: how can we enhance the product's performance and boost its durability? Essentially, how can we provide the client with the most optimal experience?

Our engineering, design, and prototype teams have meticulously gone over every aspect of our plows from day one. They’ve studied and refined the shape, stamping process, ergonomics... nothing was ever left to chance. Not even the aesthetics.  Because at Soucy, it takes more than minor tweaks to redesign a plow. In fact, the evolution of our plows embodies our unwavering pursuit of excellence.

Here are 3 key innovations that have defined the evolution of our plows:

Our plows were initially designed with a uniform, semicircular curve. This allowed the plows to push the snow forward but didn’t make the process an optimal one. As a result, fully clearing snow from an area required multiple, repetitive maneuvers.

To solve this issue, our new generation of plows are now designed with a gradual curve — the base of the shovel has a smaller radius that widens at the top to create a rolling effect that makes snow removal much more efficient. Instead of only being pushed, the snow is also lifted and rolled forward in a kind of snowball effect. In other words, removing snow is now much easier and energy efficient.

This distinctive plow shape has quickly become our signature. It also sets us apart from competitors who are mostly still designing uniform-curve plows.

Our design experts didn’t just reinforce the plow with extra material and then called it a day. They figured out how to change its overall structure by pressing shapes into the steel blade to alter its overall geometry. It has made our plows incredibly durable in addition to making snow removal a breeze.

Consider a standard plow. It’s usually made from a 3 mm-thick sheet of steel and reinforced with metal parts of varying sizes and shapes to make it stronger.

Our plows start out from a much thinner sheet of steel, usually between 1.5 and 1.8 mm. We strategically stamp the steel and reinforce it with great precision. Everything is carefully planned!

This approach results in a greater rigidity and enhanced impact resistance, all with the same amount of material.

The back of the plow shows how it was reinforced to improve its rigidity.

These improvements have made our plows more powerful, more robust, and more durable than standard models. They’re also more visually appealing! Last but not least... ergonomics!

Any technical improvements to our plows also had to make them easier to handle. Our teams completely redesigned how the plow is attached and adjusted on an ATV or SxS. We wanted to make crouching or lying down to attach or adjust a plow a thing or the past.

Our spring hook systems come with winch assistance to enable users to easily, quickly, and safely install a plow. In sum, we wanted the process to be much less demanding, especially in the winter.

And to make the plow systems even more intuitive and user-friendly, we added a handle to make it easy to change the angle of the blade (left/right).

It’s safe to say that when it comes to improving the user experience with our plows, we can say mission accomplished.

The blade shape, internal structure, and adjustment mechanism: our plows are the result of decades of experience in the workshop and on the field. They are the fruit of an unceasing dedication to innovation. Because every detail matters.

These 3 key innovations mirror our desire to create superior quality products.
