Dozens of interns come to Soucy every year to discover their strengths and explore potential career paths.

We met with Clara, Geneviève, Jacob, and Jean-Cédric, four interns who spent the summer of 2026 in various units at Soucy. These four interns were able to learn more about the company and develop their skillsets, all while bringing fresh and diverse perspectives to their teams.

Clara is completing a degree in applied communications at UdeS in the co-op program. After a first internship experience in a small company, she chose Soucy for her second internship to explore the field of communications in a new way.

As an HR marketing and communications intern at the Centre de services, she’s been tasked with developing innovative social media content ideas to help the company meet its recruitment goals.

 “I plan and oversee video production, then edit the content for publication across Soucy’s social media channels.” 

Clara works with various teams to create content and takes part in meetings with the communications teams to manage the company’s social media networks.

A seamless integration, a gratifying experience

When asked to talk about her time at Soucy, Clara says that what initially surprised her was how attentive the team was to her needs and how quickly she felt part of it. “I also feel fulfilled in my desire to learn and improve,” she adds.

She also notes that she chose Soucy partly based on the advice of a former intern who encouraged her to look beyond the job description and find an organization whose values aligned with her own. 

Once her summer internship is over, Clara will remain with us on a part-time basis through the fall of 2026. She will continue to create social media content and is planning to remain with us for her final internship in the winter of 2027.

“Don’t be afraid to ask questions. The experience you’ll gain by asking questions and getting involved in projects is what will make your internship a stimulating experience. I’ll also echo that former intern who said to look beyond the job description and choose an environment that reflects your values.”

After working for 15 years as a nurse, Geneviève decided to complete a degree in industrial engineering. “I knew I loved science, especially math, and I adore a good challenge. Engineering was the perfect field!” 

She is ending her third undergraduate year with her second internship in the development department at Soucy Belgen Drummondville.

Trust that goes beyond expectations

From day one at Soucy, Geneviève felt that her ideas and opinions really mattered. “I never felt I was a burden, I really feel part of the team.” She was also pleasantly surprised by the scope of the projects entrusted to her.

“The projects I worked on were bigger, more stimulating, more challenging that I expected.”

Tangible projects

Geneviève speaks about her work with genuine enthusiasm and passion. She is currently developing methods to manage how mould components could be reused, crucial for the quality of the finished product. “There is currently no standard approach for how to manage these components. I’m trying to come up with one.”

Geneviève is also working on a new layout for the casting department to improve the quality of products while optimizing work processes for employees.

Jacob is an industrial engineering student at UQTR who is in the midst of his third internship. In the summer of 2025, he completed his second internship with the manufacturing engineering department at Soucy Rubber Tracks. 

This summer, he’s been working with the industrial engineering team at Soucy Track Systems.

He wanted to complete his final internship at Soucy because he knew it would be an invaluable experience. He also admired how involved the company has been in the community.

“The reason I came back is because the company cares about the next generation of talent. It's obvious they really want us to get to know the company and help us grow professionally.  And because I’m from around here, I appreciate the fact that Soucy invests locally.”

Innovative projects that help the company thrive

Jacob worked on the layout of a production cell at Soucy Rubber Tracks which was then approved and integrated into the plant’s operations. “Several of the analyses I conducted continue to serve as grounds for justifying and planning future projects,” he says. 

“It is highly rewarding to contribute to projects that have a tangible impact on operations.”

This year, he’s overseeing the replacement of a paint line machine and working on a new layout of the zone to bring production back online. 

“Don’t be afraid to question everything and share your ideas and opinions. As new members of the team, we often have new ideas and new ways of looking at things. This can lead to solutions that others might have overlooked. Because even if you’re an intern, your opinion matters.”

Jean-Cédric is completing an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering at UQTR’s Drummondville campus. He is currently taking part in his first internship with the quality team at Soucy Track Systems. 

As president of the Drummondville Engineering Students Association, he knows just how much the company invests in students. 

That’s what pushed him to choose Soucy for his first internship.

A memorable first internship

Jean-Cédric was worried that he wasn’t going to feel part of the team. “I was afraid of being a very small part of an immense company. I had a lot of drive, but no experience,” he says.

But the team he was assigned to made sure he felt welcomed.

“Go in with a willingness to learn. You need to ask questions and remain attentive to everything going on around you. Watch, listen, and learn!”
