    UHMW-PE POLYMERS

    UHMW-PE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene) offers unmatched performance for its cost and weight.

    This makes it ideal for manufacturing parts that are resistant to impact, corrosion, abrasion and temperatures from -73°C to 80°C. UHMW-PE must be processed by direct compression or extrusion.

    Compression

    Heated direct compression of UHMW-PE opens up a world of possibilities when it is combined with other materials like steel (e.g. steel flanges) or rubber (overmolding). Processing UHMW-PE is our specialty, and we have extensive expertise in linear and nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA).

    Ram Extrusion

    In profile manufacturing, ram (or piston) extrusion of UHMW-PE preserves the mechanical properties of long parts manufactured without machining, for which the rate of production is especially high.

    Capacity

    With the greatest number of interconnected presses in North America, Soucy specializes in high-volume parts production by direct compression molding. The central control system manages cycle time, pressure, hydraulics and heating, optimizing operational performance. Soucy molds over 950,000 wheels and sprockets every year. Its facilities can manufacture parts weighing up to 120 kilograms (thickness of 10 in. (25.4 cm) and length of 72 in. (182.88 cm)).
