History


1967
Mr. Gilles Soucy, an avid snowmobiler, starts his first company which distributes snowmobile parts in Quebec, Ontario and the maritimes.


1973

Mr. Soucy incorporates his commerce under the name Gilles Soucy Inc. (GSI).  The huge demand for products results in more and more parts and components being added to his distribution catalogue.


1978

Quimpex Limited is founded to produce and distribute snowmobile tracks under the trade name Kimpex.  This company would later become Soucy International Inc.


1978

In order to counter the seasonal business of snowmobile parts, GSI diversifies into the marine industry.


1981

GSI becomes the exclusive distributor of Suzuki outboard engines for Eastern Canada.


1983

Mr. Soucy acquires Les Accessoires TransCycle Ltd. which again increases GSI's product offering.


1987

Mr. Soucy purchases Plastiques Prospect Inc.  a company specializing in the manufacturing of UHMW Polyethylene parts, such as idler wheels and sprockets for the snowmobile industry.  This company would later become known as Soucy Plastiques Inc.


1993

With the manufacturing business taking up more and more energy, Mr. Soucy decides to sell GSI along with Kimpex USA and Les Accessoires TransCycle to a group of US investors.  The company would now be known as Kimpex.


1994

Mr. Soucy along with Cascades and Roy-Nat, purchases 50% of Techno, a company specializing in the mixing and compounding of rubber and polyethylene.

1996
At the request of one of its largest customers, the Soucy Group purchases Baron Caoutchouc in Saint-Jerome.  Baron specializes in customized, quality molded rubber products.  The company would become known as Soucy Baron Inc.


1998

The Soucy Group purchases the remaining shares of Techno from Cascades and Roy-Nat.  The company would become known as Soucy Techno Inc.

The Soucy Group obtains a contract for $29 Million for the design and fabrication of a track system for STK's articulated carrier.


2000

The Soucy Group acquires Rivalair, a company specializing in the fabrication of metal components, most notably: forging, stamping, tube bending, welding and machining.  The company would become known as Soucy Rivalair Inc.


2004

The Soucy Group acquires the rubber track division of Skega.  This division specializes in the design and manufacturing of rubber tracks for BAE's  BV 206.  The company would become known as Soucy Sweden AB.
